Technicians don’t learn how to troubleshoot a vehicle electrical circuit by reading about it, watching someone else do it or answering a written test question. Technicians learn to troubleshoot electrical circuits by actually finding an “OPEN” circuit, or a “Vd” (Voltage drop) problem placed in the circuit. A technician has to take the DMM test leads in their hands and take circuit readings with a DMM and analyze DMM readings to find a circuit problem.

Technicians develop electrical circuit troubleshooting skills that last a lifetime with 5 different Hands-On Troubleshooting Trainers.

The first trainer is The Starter Kit, shown here. The circuit board size is 10.2 inches long x 4.0 inches wide. The two circuit board trainers, Power Board and the Lamp Board connect to form a complete circuit to teach technicians the first steps in how to test & measure live circuits and see how circuits fail.

Then 28 problems are inserted on the bottom of the circuit boards, one at a time, to create OPENs and Vd (voltage drop) problems on the voltage or ground side of the circuit. This is followed by troubleshooting 4 Short-To-Ground problems. There are a total of 32 electrical problems carefully explained in our 71-page Student Workbook.
